California Department of Conservation (DOC) – High Speed Rail Authority-DOC Agricultural Land Mitigation Program
The California Department of Conservation (DOC) is now accepting proposals to offset farmland loss associated with the California High-Speed Rail alignment through the Central Valley. DOC will work with local land trusts, resource conservation districts, and other eligible organizations to identify landowners interested in placing land into agricultural conservation easements. The program seeks to purchase easements on land comparable to that are taken out of production for the High-Speed Rail system.
Purchases of agricultural conservation easements in Madera and Fresno counties will be the primary focus as the program gets underway. DOC will also assist interested parties in Kern, Kings, Merced, and Tulare counties regarding potential easements in preparation for submitting applications.
The Request for Grant Application (RFGA), application form, and support materials are available at the DOC California Farmland Conservancy Program webpage.
