JOB DESCRIPTION
The Tamien Nation Land Conservancy is dedicated to land rematriation, land restoration, and environmental education through modern science and Indigenous science/Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK). The Land Conservancy promotes the study, protection, and education of natural and cultural resources, and uses properties held or controlled by the Tamien Nation.
The Executive Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Tribal Chairperson, Executive Director and staff in support of the Tribe’s core objectives: returning land for Indigenous stewardship, restoring lands and waters, and advancing environmental education. This is a contractor role; the contractor is not an employee and will invoice for services. This is a remote position. Key responsibilities include calendar management, meeting support, project support, records management, budget assistance, strategic planning, and policy development support. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and committed to the Tribe’s mission of land rematriation, land restoration, environmental education, cultural preservation, and climate resiliency, grounded in both modern and Indigenous science. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and computer skills are essential. This position requires occasional evenings/weekends and travel.
The Executive Assistant also assists with communications and reporting to and from the Tamien Nation Executive Council and General Council regarding activities, priorities, and progress.
This is an independent contractor (non-employee) role. The contractor is responsible for tracking time worked by task for billing purposes and for submitting invoices/timesheets in accordance with the contract terms. The contractor is not eligible for employee benefits and is responsible for all required taxes and withholdings associated with 1099 contractor status.
