JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District (Ag + Open Space) permanently protects the diverse agricultural, natural resource, and scenic open space lands of Sonoma County for future generations. We are currently recruiting for a full-time APOSD Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst – a critical team member who will support the land conservation activities of Ag + Open Space. This is an excellent opportunity to join a mission-driven organization with a passion for protecting lands that contribute to Sonoma County’s scenic beauty, local agriculture, native habitats, recreational lands and promoting equity among local tribes, BIPOC communities, and other historically excluded groups. This position is eligible for up to 60% remote work.

Duties
Duties of the GIS Analyst will include: maintaining the Ag + Open Space GIS databases, and preparing visual aids, graphics, and maps in a variety of formats in support of Ag + Open Space land conservation efforts. The GIS Analyst will also create GIS databases, data models, infrastructures, and platforms for assisting with the evaluation and processing required to meet Ag + Open Space program and project goals and objectives. Duties will also include preparation and presentation of staff reports to a variety of audiences.

Requirements
Any combination of education and work experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed herein. Normally, this would include a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, with major coursework in Geographic Information Science, urban or regional planning, environmental planning, landscape architecture, natural resources management, or a related field, and two years of progressively responsible experience in GIS systems as applied to conservation planning, open space, parks, natural resources, land use, or similar fields, as well as experience in research, mapping, graphic production, and/or report writing.
